- Season two of the pandemic, if you will.
What a year we had. Countless cultural and historic moments took place all over the world. The USA inaugurated a new president, the 28th summer Olympic Games took place in Tokyo, #FreeBritney merged from hashtag to reality. We left toilet roll hoarding behind and focused our attention instead on the world re-opening amongst widespread vaccine roll-out.
Despite the adversities of the year and its many ups and downs, one thing was certain for the retail industry: it was the biggest year of change yet. We saw significant investment into omnichannel strategies, new forms of eCommerce taking hold, the introduction of the ‘at home economy’, and investment into the ultimate customer experience. We lost familiar faces on the high street, including iconic retailers such as Topshop and Debenhams.
2021 at Go Instore could best be described as a rollercoaster. The good kind, though. We had ups, downs, more ups, and even more ups. We launched with over 20 world-class companies, including Marks and Spencer, Pets at Home, Samsung, and Currys. Our team expanded three-fold, welcoming new members and building out entirely new teams. We racked up a whopping $187 million in revenue, won awards, became ISO certified, and affirmed our legendary company status with branded Go Instore x Adidas trainers.
Most excitingly, in September, we shared the news that the Go Instore family was getting even bigger. We announced our acquisition by Emplifi, the world’s leading customer experience platform. If you didn’t hear us shout about this enough, you can find the full PR round-up here (and if you want to see our acquisition news alongside other retail giants, check out this write-up by Retail Technology Innovation Hub!)
Whilst we’re certainly looking into the future, we find that often, the best things are worth reminiscing on. Check out some of our favorite highlights below.
Features and Products
2021 was our best year yet for new product features. We refined and introduced our ShopStream feature, allowing retailers to broadcast products to unlimited audiences in real-time. We partnered with Appointedd to allow consumers to schedule live video shopping experiences, and introduced our 2 Way Video feature.
Webinars & Podcasts
We kicked off some fantastic webinars in 2021. Our Think Retail and Top Tips series saw all-star panelists from retailers such as Ribble, Pandora and Natural Baby Shower join our in-house experts. Co-CEOs Andre Hordagoda and Aman Khurana featured on podcasts such as Brick and Mortar Reborn and Behind the Mask.
2021 was a year for the books in PR coverage! Go Instore featured in Vogue Business, Yahoo Finance, Metro, Authority Magazine, The Times Raconteur and BBC Click to name just a few. Keep an eye on our socials for the latest PR releases.
Though we saw various lockdowns throughout 2021, we were lucky enough to attend our first in-person event in almost two years. Our sales team headed to the Magazine in Greenwich for Retail Week Live, complete with a three-minute pitch from our business superstar Alicia Jackson. This year, our North America team will be attending #NRF2022. We hope to spot some familiar faces…
We announced in December that Go Instore and Ribble won Best Connected Experience at the Retail Technology Innovation Hub Awards. We were over the moon to also be shortlisted for the UK Technology Vendor of the Year, and selected in the top 30 finalists for the LVMH Innovation Awards in August.
Though this is just a snapshot of what Go Instore achieved in 2021, we already know that 2022 will be even bigger and better.
Here’s to the future.
