London, UK, 2nd February 2016 – Go Instore, UK-based creator of a pioneering first-person shopping experience for online customers, together with its partner Epson, has been selected as a finalist for the Global Mobile Awards 2016. Go Instore’s innovation, which allows customers to immersively shop online as if they are actually in store, has been recognised in the category “Best Use of Mobile For Retail, Brands and Commerce.”
Go Instore is harnessing standard Android handheld devices plus Epson’s Moverio BT-200 smart glasses to enable retailers to provide a unique, first-person shopping experience for online customers. Visitors to retail websites simply click on the “Go Instore” button from any product page, which launches an online video facility from which they are able to see ‘through the eyes’ of the assigned sales person’s handheld device or smart glasses. By facilitating live, immersive one-way video streaming and two-way audio connection between website visitors and in-store staff, Go Instore is empowering retailers to deliver an entirely new way to shop online.
The GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards (“The Glomo Awards”) are the mobile industry’s longest established awards, recognising innovation across the vibrant mobile communications sector, from game-changing mobile devices to applications, technologies, apps and services. Respected worldwide for their 21-year heritage and independent judging by world-leading experts, the awards also serve as a key platform to showcase the value that mobility brings to users, industries, businesses, communities and economies. The Glomo Award winners will be announced at a gala ceremony held during Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona on Tuesday 26th February.
Commenting on the award nomination, CEO and Co-Founder of Go Instore Andre Hordagoda said: “The mobile space is widely regarded as one of the most innovative technology sectors in the world, so we are particularly thrilled to have been chosen as a stand-out entry by the prestigious GSMA Global Mobile Awards judging team.” He added: “The combination of Go Instore’s whole technology solution and Epson’s best-in-class smart glasses is creating a landmark new retail service, successfully blending web-based shopping with a real-time, in-store shopping experience for the very first time. We are very much looking forward to the awards, and to showcasing our technology at the world’s most important industry event, Mobile World Congress.”
